download .zip file (8mb) this one is kinda cool. this was written for the second "project 168" compilation over at WATMM. this time i only had about 8 hours total to work on my tracks, so i went for something that would force me to get creative quickly.

i decided to make the first track entirely out of sounds recorded by banging and smacking on my cheap chinese beach cruiser bicycle. the cover is actually a photo of that exact bike hanging in the hallway outside my apartment. i processed the recordings using kontakt 2 (by NI) - granularly stretching a few of them and otherwise EQing and tweaking them. the result is a pretty atonal track overall, really (i hadn't yet quite mastered the art of granularly processing atonal material in a tonal fashion), but one authentically created by bike sounds.

track two has similar sounds to it, but incorporates synthetic elements and is overall a bit more listenable in a traditional sense.
